English club Arsenal’s star Mesut Özil has donated 713,000 Turkish liras ($101,000) to the Turkish Red Crescent in response to a funding drive coinciding with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The money will be used to provide iftar – the evening meal at which fasting is broken at the end of the day – to 16,000 people in Turkey, according to the group. Families in Turkey and Syria will be able to receive 2,000 food packages thanks to Özil’s donation, while 90,000 iftar packages will be distributed in Somalia's capital Mogadishu. A Turkish imam has turned mosque entrance into a supermarket offering free food to the poor in covid panademic

At the entrance of an Istanbul mosque, the racks usually reserved for the shoes of the faithful are loaded with pasta packages, oil bottles, biscuits - like a supermarket. But they aren't for sale. Instead they are destined for the needy, hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The sign on the mosque's window asks anyone who can to leave something, and says those in need can take something. Abdulsamet Cakir, 33, imam of the Dedeman mosque in the Sariyer district, came up with this idea of reaching out to the poor via the place of worship after Turkey suspended mass prayers in mosques until the risk of outbreak passes. Turkey's official death toll from the virus now stands at 2,259 after 119 more deaths were reported on Tuesday, and major cities including Istanbul will be under lockdown for four days from Thursday. "After the suspension of mass prayers, I had an idea to revive our mosque by bringing together well-off people with t

She Converted Her Whole Family and 30 Friends to Islam

She and her family were strict Salavation Army members, now they're all Muslims! Debbie Rogers, now Aisha, and her family were devout, strict Christians and they regularly attended Salvation Army meetings. She felt that this was not enough for her and there were too many unanswered questions. She felt there was more for her to do to obey God than just praying when she felt like it.  By the time she was 17 she had read the whole Quran. She had converted to Islam at the age of 16. She married Muhammad who she had known since she was 10 years old.  She started to talk to her family about Islam and they started to see the changes in their daughter. Her mother soon followed and converted to Islam. Her father was more difficult to convert but he did take the step eventually. Soon after, her siblings converted. MashAllah, what an amazing story!  Source -  https://bit.ly/2RYuIv8
